What is Upper Eyelid Lift or Upper Blepharoplasty ?

An Upper Eyelid lift or Blepharoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that will correct droopy, baggy and heavy upper lids.  Dr. Akbari, our Double Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, will carefully remove excess skin and fat from your upper eyelids during your Upper Eyelid lift procedure in Vancouver to give you a more rested and rejuvenated appearance.

Am I a good candidate for Upper Blepharoplasty?

You may be an excellent candidate for an Upper Eyelid Lift procedure if you have:

  • Baggy upper eyelids
  • Droopy upper eyelids
  • Hooded upper eyelids
  • Excess skin on the upper eyelids
  • Crepey skin (click here to read more about this) (thin and wrinkly skin) of the upper eyelids

  • The best candidates for our Vancouver Eyelift procedures are patients who are healthy, do not smoke, and do not have any serious eye conditions.

How is the Upper Eyelid lift or Blepharoplasty performed?

Upper Blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia/numbing (click here to read more about numbing).  General anesthesia may be used for some patients depending on their consultation with Dr. Eli Akbari.  Eyelid lift takes one to two hours.  This short video goes over the procedure (Click here to watch). Upper Eyelid Lift Surgery is NOT a painful procedure.  Most patients report a discomfort level of 1-3 out of 10 following the procedure which is easily managed with mild pain killers.

Dr. Akbari hides her incisions in a natural skin crease of your upper eyelids.  As a Double-Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, she will use suturing techniques to obtain a virtually undetectable scar.  Your scar will take 6-12 months to mature into its final thin, nearly invisible line.

These before and after pictures demonstrate how invisible upper eyelid lift scars are after 6-12 months.

Upper Eyelid surgery does not address the wrinkles around your eyes (aka crow’s feet).  Dr. Akbari will discuss other treatments that will help you address your crow’s feet.

You will start noticing younger appearing eyes and enjoy a more rested and refreshed look as early as 2-3 weeks.  Final results will be seen between 6-12 months following your procedure.

Upper blepharoplasty can be combined with other procedures such as Lower Blepharoplasty, Forehead-Lift, and Face-Lift.  This will depend on your goals, anatomy, and consultation with Dr. Akbari.
